This is the first step in pursuing fostering with Camp Rock. This class is led by our Executive Director. During this time, you will hear about the vision and mission of Camp Rock, how we started, and where we are today. You will be given information regarding state policies, as well as those policies specific to fostering with Camp Rock. You will not be able to attend any further training with Camp Rock or begin your home study until you have attended this session. If you are interested in attending an information session, contact us as denise@camprockga.com.
This training is a state-required course to prepare you to meet the needs of children in foster care. This training is led by our Camp Rock staff. Topics include an Overview of the Child Protective Services and Foster Care system, Birth Family Connections, Partnership Parenting, Impact of Trauma on Child Development, Recognizing Abuse and Neglect, Managing Healthy Behaviors, and much more. All sessions of NTDC must be complete before a home study can be finalized. For more information on upcoming NTDC sessions, please send us an email at info@camprockga.com
The Resource Development team will schedule at least three home visits with you and help you navigate through the paperwork to complete your home study. This will include things such as your family history, medical clearance and assessment, neighborhood and community information, and home safety inspections. Your Home Study Practitioner will provide a checklist for you to help guide you through this phase of the process.
Once all documents are complete and your home study is finalized, your file will be reviewed by our team. If a decision for Camp Rock approval is made, your file will be sent to the Georgia DHS for state approval. Once this approval is received, your home will be officially open to accept a foster child. At this time, you will be contacted by the Case Management Team at Camp Rock to discuss possible placements.
